Flu Fever

Flu fever has hit our house.... I had a strange feeling that since I was a public health nurse we would be immune to the capture of this nasty disease. I confidently sent Parker to the doctor for a diagnosis of a sinus infection and was arrogantly argumentive that he COULD NOT have the flu.

Apparently - our pediatrician, the medical director at the health department and medimmune (the flu mist manufacturer) all disagreed with me. PBFFF!!

So on to some pricey Tamiflu for the family and lots of TLC for little man.

It's kind of scary with the recent H1N1 flu death this past week in Tulsa, however, it seems like almost everyone else is recovering without much complication.

Latest news from the Health Department front... we are currently offering free flu shots at all of our local clinics. Check out www.tulsa-health.org for locations and times. We received our first shipment of H1N1 flu mist - it's in a secure bunker and being distributed to high risk areas first. The H1N1 vaccinations will be released in the next coming weeks to the general public.

In the meantime... follow normal flu precautions and if you are sick or child is sick STAY HOME!!!

“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.”- Isaiah 26:4
