Well, sad to say, but my thoughts on Pertussis were correct.
Now, our beautiful little 1 month old niece (closest I'll have to a niece anyway) has been diagnosed with Pertussis. She has been in the hospital since Thursday. It is just pitiful watching her fight the horrible cough.
BUT this makes a momentous time to remind you that ALL adults need one lifetime Pertussis Booster Vaccination, especially those around infants and children.
As I have discussed before, Pertussis for an adult manifests itself as a persistent cough. Often misdiagnosed as a "viral illness". However, when you pass it on to an infant, the consequences and symptoms are much more severe.
Now, I will ease up on the complaints about being "needle" wary on the flu shot, but please, please, please muster up some courage to take a Pertussis booster. It's just once per lifetime for all persons age 11-64.
Ten bucks for a shot at Tulsa Health Department Locations.
