Election Advice

Jessalyn, my eight-year-old daughter, has become a second hand participant in my election research. Friday night, we viewed 20/20's special on the wives of McCain and Obama. She jumped up and rushed to her room returning with a journal. (She has a million of these bound books, that she often writes her thoughts and ideas in. She has different ones for different subjects. Interesting for an eight year old, I believe.) As we watched the interviews, she begins writing fervently in her journal. I glance over thinking she is working on a new work of fiction or innovative business plan. Alas, she has made a chart, comparing the characteristics of the candidates. She totally cracks me up. She's a little type A, I have NO idea where she gets it.

We watch on and converse a little about what each of the wives have to say. About 30-40 minutes into the program. She says, I have a great idea. I have to get a new journal. Here is what she wrote:

Jessalyn went on to explain that this way, the vice president would be "in training" for four years directly under the president and would know all the ins and outs of being president.

Now I think she has something here. Every four years the vice president would be the automatic president elect. The public would only select a new vice president every four years. So quite possibly you could have a Republican President with a Democratic Vice President. Talk about bi-partisan!

Ladies, we've graduated beyond our mom's 1980's cliches of women for president, we now can tell the president how to do his or her job! Keep on my precious liberator! Your ideas may spark a revolution.
