Tulsa State Fair

Being the great mother than I am, I let Parker skip school today and go to the fair. My very good friend, Shannon with her daughter, Avery joined us on our day trip to the big event.

I must say, Tulsa has done a great job of cleaning up the fair. The midway, which I typically like to avoid was clean and well organized. Sorry to all the Bells' fans, but the fair is so much nicer with the destruction and removal of the run down amusement park. The new fair buildings really add a nice touch as well.

Parker has a blast in the usual petting zoo and country town set up. The new Just For Kids building is fantastic. There seemed to be fewer hands-on activities for the kids but Parker and Avery still had a blast inside.

Mid afternoon, the Sea Lions put on an amazing show. They perform at 1:00, 3:00, & 6:00 on the East side of the fair. By no means a Sea World show, but far outdoes the zoo performances. Parker enjoyed the tricks and talent of the sea lions, in his words, the show was "awesome".

Parker's favorite stop was the huge sand pit in the QT building. The activities were quite a hit with the kids, big and little.

We had the usual yummy treats, smoked sausage, cheese on a stick and chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick.

My best two buys at the Fair - the $5 refillable drink and the kiddie ride $10 wristband. Two very good values on the scale for fair expenses.

I'm exhausted and so is Parker and we only gleaned the surface of all the wonderful things at the fair. And tomorrow, I've promised Jessalyn a trip to the fair. As we round week three, it probably is due time for me to go back to work!

Have a great week, hope you can catch a piece of the Fair! Later my friends.
