Please Pass The Caviar

On National Caviar Day, how much do you know about this delicacy that symbolizes luxury and wealth?

Caviar is drained and lightly salted fish eggs (often called roe). It is usually served as a garnish or spread with appetizers.

There are a variety of different caviars so always read the label to learn how to handle the type you have purchased. Caviar is extremely perishable, so it must be kept refrigerated at all times.

One spoonful of caviar supplies an adult's daily requirement of vitamin B12, and is high in cholesterol and salt. Enjoy caviar on occasion, and in moderation.
