May 7th, I will have my first of two carpal tunnel surgeries. I'm somewhat excited since I've had to deal with the discomfort of wrist pain and numb fingers for nearly five years! I'm not excited about the fact that my surgeon does this little procedure in his office, under local!!! Hello???? No general, are you kidding me? I would have general anesthesia to get my teeth cleaned if they would let me!
I'm a total baby when it comes to these things. My doctor reassures me repeatedly that I'll be fine. He also quickly mumbled that he doesn't routinely give perscription pain medication. I think when he saw my eyes pop out of my head he redeemed himself and stammered, but remind me and I can give you some. If he wasn't so highly recommended I'd think him a loon.
If I'm having a surgery that requires me to be off work for three weeks, there better be some pain medicine included. If for nothing else, my sanity of being cooped up for 21 days. Ha!
I'm very optimistic though that things will go well and I wil be back to myself in no time at all. Of course, I've already reminded Devon of all the things, I CAN'T do with one hand: laundry, dishes, bathing children, making the bed. Two things I can do: work the remote, and type at my computer! I'm already practicing one handed typing and texting! But definately, no housework of any kind. I'm sure that won't last long though either.
Later friends! Have a great week!!!!
