CANCER SUCKS!

I've seen the slogan for the nonprofit lots of places - Cancer Sucks! I agree!!

I have to say loosing two parents to cancer was tough. Devon and I both sat with his mom and my dad as we watched them give their last breath to the devastating and vicious disease.

As hard as that was, I could NEVER imagine my children or even my spouse endure the trial of cancer. I'm not going to lie, it's one of my biggest fears.

Two of our good friends at church, both close to my age, are in the trenches right now, fighting the cancer with all their might! Last week, our neighbors who had moved her from Iowa to take their daughter Cancer Treatment Centers, said good bye to their daughter as she was rescued from cancer to join Jesus. Last week, I also learned that James, a high school classmate, is in his last days as a victim to a brain tumor. James has small children that are going to grow up without him because of cancer.

Now today, I'm cruising around on facebook, and learn that an elementary classmate's wife is headed to MD Anderson for a second opinion on what seems an aggressive malignancy.

Seriously?? Seriously?? Am I worried about pitiful and pathetic stuff in my life when friends are fighting for indeed their very own lives???

What is God teaching me in hearing and experiencing all of this? Gratitude for my health? Contentment? A new urgency toward prayer?

I'm not really sure.... but He has my attention. And my friends have my commitment to pray for them.

If you want to follow them....

Please also keep Ronda and James in your prayers.
