Last night, Devon & I plus kids, joined our old friends the Jones' for dinner. Brenda & Joey Jones were members of our church in Muldrow while Devon was the youth pastor. They had the daunting task of having to deal with a punk kid youth pastor and his "mindless rambling" wife trying to sort out what ministry was and how to do it. They overlooked our immaturity and inexperience and were two of our biggest supporters. We had the pleasure of having both of their daughters in our youth group at that time. Now Jennifer, their youngest, and her husband Kyle are mature and professional young adults who are members of our small group morning Bible study class at Southwood.
We hadn't seen Brenda and Joey for several years but sitting down to dinner you would have never known. They greeted us with warm hugs and big smiles. We introduced them to our children and our children sensing a comfortable relationship warmed right up to them. We caught up, recounted fun memories and laughed a lot.
Isn't it wonderful having great friends like the Jones? Friends that you can sit down and laugh with and love on and not have any reservations about your relationship. You may not have talked in years but you know that the love for one another and the mutual love for Christ still prevails.
I pray that this week allows for you to have some time with good friends. Pick a night to relax, invite some friends over or head to dinner. Enjoy some good times together. This is really what life is all about - relationship.
Have a great week!

Hi
I'm from Tasmania, Australia.
Loved your post about friends.
I think there is something about friendship, especially Christian friendship, that sparkles with the love of God.
I've gone through a lot of illness in the last few years and I'm grateful for my brothers and sisters in Christ for supporting me in prayer, with gifts and with their time.
God Bless
Amber
