Party, Party, Party

I love the "feeling of Christmas". Christmas music, shopping for gifts, home made goodies, lights on houses and businesses, each contributing to the atmosphere that makes the holidays so delightful. December 1st, however, my day planner takes off like a horse out of the shoot at Remington. Every weekend is already a tight fit of holiday engagements and there are even a few more knocking on my door!

Three Christmas Music programs, two work parties, two Christmas Parties for the kids, two small group Christmas Get-Togethers, a special Christmas dinner for Church Deacons, and a choir Christmas Party, not to mention a handful of family & friend parties sprinkled in. As I was resuscitating my panting planner this morning, my phone rings to tell me Jessalyn's class is having a Monthly Birthday Party on Friday. I threw out the screeching brakes, wait a minute... I didn't miss this, my daughter's birthday is in July. Well, the home room mom interrupts, Jessalyn is a summer birthday so we celebrate her birthday on her half birthday! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? So now add a birthday party to the mix... Another couple of dozen cookies here and there, no big deal. Did I mention I have to take finals in the middle of December as well....

It's easy to get overwhelmed with our time, emotions and finances and before long all the excitement of Christmas funnels down the drain. I know you're planners are packed just like mine. Find some time, a minute or two to spend time alone with your family and your spouse to enjoy the season of Christmas. Find time too to spend with the reason for Christmas, as well.

Happy Holidays!

WHAT!! You've never celebrated your daughter's half birthday at school? What kind of teachers has she had????
Oh, and make sure you send enough cookies for the teacher, too! Most of us NEED some good chocolate about now. These days can get rough around the holidays.

Usually we have a hoorah for summer birthdays in May, this half birthday business is all new to me.

Jessalyn's teacher has diabetes, so I have to be careful what I send in way of treats. :)

Thanks Sherri (like you had to identify yourself)!
