Ken Yazel our county assessor - yes the same one who incorrectly assessed Union Public Schools milage by over $800,000- has made an outrageous proposal to cut Tulsa County's millage rate by almost half.
Initially, this might sound good, paying less property tax, not such a bad idea since we do have the highest millage rate in the state. BUT - where will this money not go?
*Tulsa Health Department = $8 million dollar cut and an estimated 42% reduction in workforce
*Tulsa Libraries
*Tulsa Community College
*Tulsa Technology Center
Well... now that sounds like a great idea! Not!
What can we do about the proposition? Nothing to Ken Yazel, unfortunately.
Sally Bell running for County Commision fully supports Ken Yazel's Proposal. Her opponent is Karen Keith who does not support the proposal. Make your own decision in that race.
A final change in millage rates will go to a vote in Tulsa County. Fingers crossed, Tulsa County will make the right decision at that time.
