Old

My birthday is quickly approaching. I know many of you reassure me that I'm still in my prime, but one can't help grieve some when you slip into another culture of aging.

For example, hearing persons of equitable age tell me they are planning their 20 year HS reunions.

Seeing college male chums on facebook all sporting the "shaved heads".

Becoming concerned with how much retirement I have saved.

Having to increase the frequency of trips to the salon to cover my grey.

- don't get me wrong. I don't mind being in my thirties. I love the stage of life that I am in.

Today I listened to an interview with the country all stars, Brooks and Dunn. They were in their late thirties when they had their first big hit record deal. Brooks said up till then they were just hoping for a nice "double wide".

So don't despair you thirty somethings big success may be around the corner.

I must admit though today I was a little discouraged - in my email in box - a special invitation to join AARP.

don't feel bad honey, I received an invitation for a personal mobility assessment from the scooter company. Of course I just laughed and said that should go good with my motorhome.
