No fair!

My 2nd Carpal Tunnel Release surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I've actually been really looking forward to the procedure. I have so much relief from my previous surgery that I'm excited for the next one. Weird, huh?

I also was looking forward to getting a little bit of sympathy around the house. But wouldn't you know it? My husband had to try and out do me. He has been complaining of this bump and ache in his left foot for a few weeks now. As a typical nurse, I haven't been too concerned. Oh, take some Ibuprofen, ice it, you'll be fine.

I guess officiating a Friday night High School Football game and nine games on Saturday aggravated his "little bump" into a real pain and an actual injury. Apparently, he has "turf toe". I thought he was kidding and I actually was calling it "turk toe" for a day or so. Until I did some web med searching and realized the turk was actually turf, which did make a little bit more sense to me. The injury on the big toe inflames the base of the toe joint, causing immobility and severe pain, and apparently sidelines NFL players for weeks at a time.

So, now Devon is hobbling around on some borrowed crutches, taking lethal doses of Ibuprofen, and has an ice pack strapped to his foot 24 /7. He found coverage for his games this week, and is hoping to be back on the field on Friday.

I threatened him tonight, he better be over his little "toe injury" pretty quickly, because he has some major nurturing to do come Wednesday. Oh yeah, it's going to be my turn to sit on the couch and watch TV all day and take LONG medicated naps. And I'm not letting it slide, because of some "turf toe" business. :)
