Lucky, one Lucky Dog

Lucky has once again lived up to his given name. Now, not only has he been lucky enough to survive being stranded on a flooded island, lucky enough to be able to come live with us, he has now fought back from a life threatening illness.

A week ago Thursday, Devon came home late and went to let in our dear weimaraner, Lucky. Typically, Lucky doesn't let a second pass until he has nearly knocked you over when opening the door. When Lucky didn't show even after Devon called him, we knew something wasn't right. We flipped the light on in the garage and were horrified by the scene. To save you all the gruesome details, the floor of the garage was streaked with blood like a horror movie. We found Lucky outside, lying by the shed, barely moving.

Devon and our one amazing of a friend Jason, took Lucky to the doggy ER at 11:00 that night. Being a nurse and seeing the condition of our poor lovable canine, I was certain that Lucky wasn't going to live up to his gracious name.

But Lucky was down but not out. After overnight at the doggy ER, four nights at the vet hospital, and several hundred dollars later, Lucky is on his road to recovery. We are still not exactly sure what caused the excessive bleeding, but we are grateful that he like his feline friends is pushing his luck for all nine lives.f

We got to bring Lucky home Monday night, and we were all excited to see each other, him and us alike. He's been getting extra special treatment and enjoying every minute of it!

poor Lucky! Is he okay now? It's so sad when our 4 legged children get sick!
