Summer always means more outdoor accidents including those that may put you at risk for exposure to Tetanus. This summer is not different in fact with the recent flooding situations, the need to review your tetanus protection is even more imperative.
If you are between the ages of 11 & 18 years and you have not had a Tetanus shot, you need one!
If you are over the age of 18 and have not had a tetanus shot in the last ten years, then you need one.
If you are an adult and you have never had a pertussis booster (especially if you are around young children) and it has been five years since your last tetanus, you need a special type of tetanus shot called Tdap (brand name Adacel).
Good news! Tetanus shots for those 11-18 years are available at NO CHARGE at your local county health department or Tulsa Health Department.
Adult Tetanus shots including Tdap are only $10.
Good news for Southwood Youth Group, I will be available to give Tetanus shots at our Falls Creek campers' meeting! Yea!!
